Reviving My Blog After 18 Years

After 18 years, I’m reviving my blog, reflecting on its journey from a general platform to a technical hub, and planning its return with fresh content and a modern approach.

On Saturday, April 2, 2005, my blog went online. At first it didn’t have any specific subject areas, but over time it naturally became more and more technical.

My reach wasn’t that great. But on a smaller scale you would probably call it a kind of influencer today. It did bring me a few inquiries about products, including advertising packages. That was pretty nice.

The highlight was a book contract for the CMS Contao (TypoLight). After just over 100 pages, however, I had to stop because I just didn’t have enough time for it.

And at some point I stopped blogging as such. I didn’t feel like running my own servers anymore, etc. I tried to focus more on “standards”, such as Twitter, later LinkedIn, etc.

You could see it as an anniversary, but it’s just a coincidence. A new blog will come. Maybe I’ll even wait until April 2 to post new content, and in the meantime copy my relevant LinkedIn posts to the new place.

First, check whether there are still usable RSS readers. 🥸
